I am entering this process because I believe a successful Green Party campaign can do the following:
--Institutionalize the Green Party as a meaningful, effective, and permanent part of the United States' political landscape;
--Popularize and grow the Green Party as an electoral/social vehicle to unite people across socio-economic lines that are often used to divide;
--Recognize and publicize the internationalization of problems facing average households across our nation;
--Inject radical common sense solutions into our national political debate; and
--Positively affect public policy to improve our quality of life with justice for all.

Why Contribute to the McKinney Campaign:

Green Party members, Independents, and Third Party supporters across the country have the opportunity to help McKinney qualify for federal matching funds. To reach this goal, the campaign needs to raise $5000 in $10 to $250 contributions in 20 states.

Reaching this goal is a substantial feat for any third party candidate, and will add credibility and momentum to the Green movement. In addition, reaching this goal provides significant support for furthering the message and cause of the Green Party.

The McKinney campaign may be the only Green Party camp in a position to reach the federal matching funds goal, due to her political experience and passion to challenge the corrupted status quo of Washington.

McKinney has been a strong leader in Washington, fighting against the Iraq War, challenging the military blank checks supported by Congress, calling for an end to government-sponsored corporate welfare, demanding a suspension of the use, sale, development, production, testing, and export of depleted uranium munitions, and introducing articles of impeachment for Bush, Cheney, and Rice.

Wisconsin has the opportunity demonstrate its strong progressive and green values by successfully becoming one of the 20 states that helps the McKinney campaign reach the $5000 goal.

About Cynthia

Born in Atlanta , Georgia on March 17, 1955, Cynthia McKinney is the daughter of retired nurse, Leola McKinney and one of Atlanta 's first Black law enforcement officers, former Georgia State Representative Billy McKinney.

Education: Cynthia has earned a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California and a Masters of Art in Law and Diplomacy from the prestigious Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

She served as diplomatic fellow at Spellman College, Atlanta, Ga. in 1984 and has served as a faculty member at Clark Atlanta University and Agnes Scott College.

Public Service: Cynthia's debut into public office came in 1988 when she was elected to the Georgia State Legislature. In 1992, Cynthia made history when she became the first African American woman to represent Georgia in the United States House of Representatives.

Cynthia was re-elected to 6 terms in congress between 1992 and 2007.

While in Congress, Cynthia served on the House Armed Services Committee, House International Relations Committee for 10 years where she was the highest-ranking Democrat on the Human Rights Subcommittee, and the House Committee on Budget.
